Follow Up Advice Question

Question to those in PE,

Backgroud:
I had a final round at a MM fund 3 weeks ago. During my interview they said they would get back to me in 3-4 weeks. I sent a thank you note and the hiring manager replied basically saying thanks, great meeting you and as discussed we will get back to you.

Question:
I was thinking about calling him to check in, asking where they are in the process, let him know I'm still very excited about the opportunity and ask if they would like any additional information as they look to make a decision. Do you guys recommnend calling in? If so when would be most appropriate? Would it in any way hurt my position?

Thanks

What are some of the training companies that BB/MM banks use? How do they compare? I'm trying to set something up for the analysts at my boutique bank.

Thanks.

Circ Question

Question about Circs.

I have a problem whereby I have a model with some circs in it and sometimes when I change one of the input cells it messes up the circ and the whole thing goes to #div. When I try to hit undo it stays messed up. I usually close the file without saving and redo my work. There has to be a better way to over come this. Suggestions/help.

IB --> CorpDev/Strat --> exit ops Question

I'm a 3rd year analyst considering going in to the international strategy group of a multinational corp. I was wondering what are the exit ops after a gig like this. If I don't want to go to grad school is it possible to transition to PE or back to IB? or are you stuck in CorpDev. I'm just worried that once I leave IB I won't be able to come back or transition to PE.

Banking to Corporate Dev/Strategy Question

I'm in the middle of 3rd year as an analyst at a regional boutique and will probably get promoted to associate. I was thinking about trying to get a job in the corporate world as a strategy analyst for a fortune 500 company in its international division. It's one of those jobs that requires pervious banking/consulting experience.

Ivy Pet Peeve

This thread is in response of some of the “is Harvard easy” posts yesterday. I find it so ridiculous that ivy kids always claim that they are so superior to top public school kids. The justification of grade inflation via the argument that if ivy kids went to top publics they would get all A’s is asinine. I think it’s even far fetched to claim that just because you go to an ivy you would even be in the top 20% at a top public school. Yes, ivy kids are smart and I’m not attacking their intellectual aptitude. My point is simple; going to an ivy does not translate to success at a top state school.

lateral interviewing?

Does anyone know about the lateral interviewing process? How does it differ from the interview process out of school? Are the questions less technical or more technical? Is it more of a fit interview? Do you still have to go through the whole dog and poney show? What are the percent yields from interviews? Thanks.
