My understanding of Event Driven HFs is that they invest in events such as spinoffs, corporate restructurings, bankruptcies, warrants etc

Just wondering how some of the '07 analysts are doing with their apartment searches. I'm looking for a studio in Midtown East and that's always a little harder.

I've been here for a week or so and haven't seen anything I like so far. Most of these brokers at the junior level are major douchebags.

I just read this moments ago, what shocks me the most is the fact that the national media hasn't covered this story at all, especially compared to the Duke Rape trial and the murder of James Byrd a few years ago...hmmm, I wonder why, any ideas as to why the media has relatively ignored this story ?

PE for those who don't want to go to B-School

I was wondering what the options are for those of us who do not plan on going to B-School at all. Let's say you work your 2 years in Banking, then get recruited by a PE firm and do that for 2 years, does the firm then expect you to leave and go to B-School ?? Or is there a possibility they'll give you a shot at sticking around if you're good enough obviously.

I ask because my plan as of now is to do 1 or 2 years of Banking, then hopefully cross over into PE/HF and then take it from there.

I imagine this must be a serious problem with the amount of hours you lot spend in the office. I'm sure there are a few unhygienic nitwits who stink up the office during the summer and make it unbearable for you to sit next to them in meetings.

Equally sure there must be some with excessive gas from leading this unhealthy lifestyle. So go on, share your stories !
