Keeping in touch

I imagine with a cell phone, blackberry and office phone its pretty easy to make personal calls throughout the long day at work (obviously not excessively). is this true? I know we won't have time to visit or spend time with family and friends, but I'm still hoping to be able to keep in touch while at work.

I have a feeling there will be a few posters that will say "if you need to talk to frien

My bonus got taxed to high hell - 44%

My 10k bonus ended up only being 5600. This is harsh. I figured it would be 6k atleast. Did anyone get taxed this much? Can anyone explain to me why its so high? I know its because its a lump sum bonus. but any other reason?

taking GMAT more than once

It was recommended to take the SAT more than once in high school, but i've heard with the LSAT's that it can be negative to take it more than once. Whats the attitude towards GMAT's?

Full-time Analyst training programs - how intense are they?

I start this summer and my training will be about a month long. Is this a 9-5 type training with weekends off? or do they make it as intensive as the real deal. 60-80 hours 7 days a week.

Also, once training is done, I assume we are thrown into the pit right off the bat like most summer interns. can someone confirm this though?

and spare me any comments like "if you ask about hours, your in

Hansard Scholar

I just graduated this December and before I start working this summer, I am going to London for three months. Its through a program called Hansard and its basically an internship with the British Parliament. It's not banking related, but its through the London School of Economics. Has anyone ever heard of it or know anyone that has done it?

I'm not sure what to expect. I'm really just going over there to travel and party.

Life in New York City

Most people just talk about I-banking lifestyle and how much it can suck, but no one really ever mentions what its like living in NYC. I will be moving there this summer, but I am an outsider from a smaller city. I've been to New York tons of times though and absolutely love it. I have blast everytime. I know with Ibanking you wont have much time to enjoy the city and its very expensive. But all in all, how do people like living there?
