At any point during the SA process does an applicant send in their "official transcript"??

After an offer has been extended and accepted, does the bank request "official transcript"?

Do SA applicants ever submit an offical transcript? Do the banks request it from your school? How do they verify that the grades you submit on your "unoffical transcript" are legit?

Just wondering because I heard of an applicant submitting fake GPA, was wondering what could happen...
