It's been a good run
I must admit its been an amazing couple of years watching this site growth in front of my eyes. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end. With that being said I am sorry but effective Monday, April 14, 2008 Wall Street Oasis will be going offline, indefinitely.

Best Movie for IBanking
What is your favorite movie that in someway relates to Wall Street?
Some of the top 3 (I presume):
Wall Street (of course)
American Psycho
Boiler Room
But what are some other good ones worth watching?
PS: Wall Street sequel is in the works, under the title: "Money Never Sleeps"
Grade Conversions
I go to a school in Canada that gives grades on a 12 point scale. My current major average is 9.5/12, which is a bit above a B+ according to my university. What does this translate to on the 4 point scale?
Commuting to Work by Taxi
Random question about taxis: is it reasonable to assume that you can quickly get a taxi in NYC really early in the morning, lets say around 6 AM? If not, is there a way to arrange for a taxi to pick you up from a certain location at the same time every day?
Exchange or not
I am 1st year MBA, who would be interning at a BB this summer. During my second year, I want to do an exchange program abroad. Given the market conditions right now, would it be a good idea to do that?
Specifically, do you guys think banks will be giving less FT offers to their summer interns this year? When does most of the FT recuiting happen - fall or winter?
To those who have read "Bank"...
I understand the author has an often funny flair for the dramatic, but how real of a depiction of analyst life is this? Any guesses as to his employer?
Summer Analyst Gathering
Hello,
I would like to organize gatherings for investment banking summer analysts in NYC.
If anyone is interested in helping me out, please shoot me a line.

Waking up in the morning...
I'm starting in the summer as an SA and laugh all you want but I am genuinely concerned about being able to wake up in the mornings. I have a crazed sleeping schedule (sleep late... wake up outrageously late) which might help with the late nights but I am a notoriously heavy sleeper. After not sleeping much for a few nights, I have literally slept through alarms time and time again.
NYC Apartment buildings with gyms?
How common are apartment buildings with gyms in NYC? I don't mean luxury buildings or anything like that. If I want to live somewhere that isn't ridiculously expensive (and I'm planning to live with three other guys), is it realistic to look for buildings that have a gym (i.e. treadmills, weight-lifting benches, etc.)? Any insight on this would be very helpful. Thanks!
No SA positions want to get into IBD in Toronto..Any Advice?
I currently switched by major to Finance (I'm in my third year) and really want to get into IBD in Toronto.
I am attending a non-target school and because I just switched my major (in Feb), I missed the deadlines for the SA internships at CIBCWM and RBCCM here in Toronto (which, were all in Jan).
Fortune Brands shows Absolut discipline
It's easy to see why Fortune Brands would reach for a drink, what with sales in its largest division, home and hardware, getting hammered by the trouble in the U.S. housing market. The more so when the drink in question is top-selling Absolut Vodka, the big prize in the auction...
