As I work through my years as an analyst, I'm trying to get real detailed information on some of the private equity groups I plan on applying to in a few months. If anyone has any insight or works at one of the following private equity firms, please shoot me a message or drop a note as I'd love a chance to discuss:

When you give your 2 weeks notice to quit and the company immediately walks you out the door, are you still entitled to your 2 weeks pay?

I have a telephone interview coming up with Shaw for an investor relations associate position. Would anyone be able to tell me if it would be as quant/brainteaser heavy as other interviews (which have been discussed on the boards)? I am also wondering how many rounds they do: I heard there are 10 interviews in total - would that mean phone interview + 2/3 visits to their offices?

Just wondering has Goldman pulled with crazy tactic with any of you on here. It would be exciting to hear just how crazy that must have been because it just happened to me after being put on hold. Needless to say....I was shocked that I still don't even know the situation.

Upon submission of your transcript, the company does not like your performance in certain classes? My first couple semesters in college I was irresposible, I will admit that (I was more worried about playing club rugby and partying). I did poorly (think 2.0) in several of my classes, unfortunately several being my math courses.

I am interested in a career in S&T and was wondering how much being a Division 1 athelete would help me. My stats in undergrad were not good: non-target, 3.0-3.2 GPA, but im hoping the athletics will help me out. How hard it would be for me to break into S&T? Any suggestions on where to start looking?

Currently a Junior at a non-target, unless people consider Rutgers a target school. Seeking summer internship. Awesome 3.255 GPA.

Is it pretty much dead? I know in the past it's been good, but how has it fared in recent times? I'm considering a group-specific offer with a BB in Lev.Fin but with the rest I'd find out my group after accepting an offer. The thing is, I really like the bank, but am wondering whether this is a good time to go into the group...

Im trying to prepare for an interview for a private equity group at a BB. The position is as a portfolio analyst. Analyzing the PE funds/portfolio companies comprising the BBs FoF's. Can anyone can share any experiences about working in PE be it an investments role or portfolio analyst role? Has anyone worked in a similar capacity?

anyone know any stores in toronto to get a few decent pairs? anything in yorkdale/downtown etc?

But I was just wondering as to how many of you bankers out there are also private investors and use your I-Banking skills to invest into other fields you are interested in.. For Example jumping on the train for a new Fashion line, or a somthing..

I'm two weeks out from my superday and my, "candidacy is still under review." Jargon for waitlist I'd imagine.

Anyone recieve an offer from BlackRock yet? If so, what office and group?

Last night I commented in a thread about doostang here (not negatively), this morning I woke up... BOOM banned from doostang. On other forums I never hear of people being banned from doostang and it appears a common theme on wallstreetoasis. How many of you have had accounts deleted? any speculation as to causes?

I know my GPA has been a huge hindrance in getting interviews, and I'm wondering as I move on, how I should address this issue. I know that if I leave it off my resume, people will assume I got below a 3.0, which isn't true, but which is close enough to a 3.0 that it might as well be. (3.2 at a target) Leave it off?

I have to opportunity to intern in the Wealth Management division of a BB bank (financial advising) or to intern at a wealth managment/investment management firm (<1 billion in capital).

Should I take the big name or the hands-on experience at the small firm? Any advice?

Haven't heard many people on this board inquiring about this boutique, but Dealbook has a feature on Effron and Centerview that seems pretty comprehensive.

I am a non-business major currently at Penn State, graduating this coming fall (08). I would like to get into trading (specificall commodities) and had several first round, on campus interviews with BB's the past few weeks for internships, but no offers resulting.
