I have done some Derivative Accounting in the past. Can that help me to get in to IB? Will it make my Resume look stronger? Thanks

So I just got an email today. I'm going in for an Equity Sales & Trading Summer Analyst interview at a BB this Friday! (What a great heads up)

Below is what I know so far after doing some initial research: Can someone please tell me if this is enough knowledge

For biotech VC (both investing in biotech firms and starting your own), what is better, a major in bio or a major in business? The job will require both, but I would like to know a good approach to this field.

Headhunters start contacting us shortly, if not already, and i'm curious:

1) How many buyside options are legit and prestigious places to go before b school
2) Is it common for the people who come on as junior people to get promoted after two years, or is it more up and out

Does anyone have any info on the Account Management Group at Blackrock? Lifestyle, pay or what they actually do? Also are they located in their main office in New York?

So I was going to do a research project on some derivatives trading strategy; then I decided screw that I want to do something more fun (read: more qualitative).
And I am pondering whether I should argue for or against Warren B's statements:
“Derivatives are financial weapons of mass destructions”

Are there any good prop shops along the lines of First New York, Trillium, SIG, DRW, etc......that specialize in fixed income products? Seems like most of the firms I know trade equities, derivatives, and options, mostly.

Does anyone know what is the remuneration like for non-investment banking finance jobs (like credit risk management, asset management, research etc.) at traditional IB firms like GS and MS?

Does anyone know if the firm hires summer interns for banking and if so how competitive it is?

I go to a decent school, but only City and JP morgan have on campus recruitment. My school has an articulation agreement (if that's what they call them) with Polytechnic University. Their next year's career fair has GS, ML and MS attending. wtf is this they are ranked in the third tier by US news with a 75% acceptance rate. Nothing against engineering but MIT and Caltech ok but poly.

-What is the overall opinion on The McLean Group?

-How is the dealflow?

-Where are the deals usually structured from? (I am asking, cause they have 20 offices. Just curious where the action really takes place.)

I was wondering if any of the bankers out there who have come from non-target schools could drop a quick synopsis of the path that they took which led to working in banking.

Hey everyone, I've been stalking the boards for a while and I figure it would be a good idea to ask a question that's been on my mind for a while. Currently, I'm a sophomore attending a non-target (top 50, state school). I have some decent extracurriculars and a 4.0 after my third semester.

This is my first post to this forum. Having a great learning experience reading different posts here. I needed your perspective in one of the interview questions that I am struggling with and will appreciate any input from this forum

Does anybody know the major banks, private equity, or hedge fund firms in Dubai.
Any past experiences with trying to get a job as well?

I've never networked before and not sure how I would use networking to get a spring/summer internship. I have a free spring quarter at school (April-June) during which I'm hoping to get an internship (if something like this exists), so I would probably have to do this through networking since usually they only recruit for summer interns.

Just curious if you know others in real life who post on forums like this one. I don't work at a bank (yet!) so I don't really know anyone.

I've done a lot of research into industry and product groups, but I have not heard much about restructuring. Since restructuring has such a specific function, I'd like to know if someone can give me a detailed description of restructuring (aside from the FAQ description) including the entire deal process. Also, does anyone know the top groups and top boutiques for restructuring?
