Best Groups at JP Morgan

Self Explanatory. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also knowing the groups to shoot for, how hard is it for an entering summer analyst to work it out?

PM me your email for Doostang Invites

I'll get these to you within a couple of hours, and nobody has to see your email address.

investment banking in Texas

I will be a freshman at Rice university in the coming fall. Plan to double in economics and mech Engineering. Since Rice is not a feeder to the big new york based banks, i was wondering if there would be any investment banking opportunities in texas for Rice undergrads. If so, what are the names of the companies or firms so i can start looking into it.

any info or advise concerning ibanking (especially pertaining to engineering or Rice) will be appreciated.

Those undergrads who are interested in HF jobs

I've gotten a few inbox messages from people interested in breaking into HF's. I'll post a list of questions and thoughts later on what you need to do.

Private doonstang requests

PM me if you need a doonstang invite, I'll get it to you fast.

exit opps, IB vs S&T

I'm getting the general impression that IB exit opps are greater than S&T.

Is this true?

And can anyone please explain what exit opps are generally taken from both sides, and which opportunities are typically closed for either side.

Appreciating trends

My GPA has been in decline ever since 2nd semester freshman year. After getting my grades from last semester I am now at a 3.12. I will probably have a gpa in the 2s when I graduate. So I will be interviewing in February for SA at a variety of banks. I put 3.2 on my resume. And I had a 3.2 when I sent my res out. So I'm not lying. And if I get a full time offer and my gpa drops in the 2s, I'm stil

Leveraged Finance

I got two summer internships with both JPM lev fin and GS lev fin - which one would you consider more prestigous?

Isn't the team's reputation more important than the whole bank's reputation when it comes to exit opps? What do PE firms think?

getibjob.com for you to use

ok I decided to make the site public, since I'm no longer interested in IB(starting my own firm instead, with a partner)...so I'm going to share the stuff I got on there for you to use. So ignore all the contribute, pay $ links etc, I'll update that once I get a chance.

First the link: www.getibjob.com

What you'll find there:
-Interview Process
-Some resume hints/tips
-List of 90 Investment banks(NY area) with links to their career page

Analysts in London: How much rent do you pay

True Definition of Target

What is the true definition of target school. Let's say all the major players (BBs, top consulting firms, etc.) recruit at a school that's not generally thought of as target (non-ivy, top public school, etc.)

is it still a "target" ?

real estate at hedge funds

Anyone know which HFs have real estate groups? This seems to be a new(ish) trend. What is the perception of such groups?

Also, is compensation for a real estate analyst at a HF on par w/ an equities analyst at the same fund?

PM me your email for Doostang Invites

Promise I'll get these out to you within a couple of hours.

Kind of sketchy

I vaguely remember someone mentioned they were going to start a help page for getting an investment banking job. www.getibjob.com. This person's asking for $40... it looks sketch.

Citigroup vs. Morgan Stanley Culture

How do these IBD cultures compare? What is the overall office feel of the two, in respect to analysts?

Importance of Firm

One of the reasons I chose trading is because it seemed to be more of a meritocracy than any other kind of job. If you're good, you're good; it doesn't matter that you don't work at a BB or a Tier 1.

It seems like a majority of the bankers are extremely concerned with the firm/group in which they work. From your experience, does your employer matter in S&T?

Keep Busting Your A...

I am a little disconcerted based on the number of people on here who are currently 1st year analysts or will be starting as analysts next summer who are worried about how they're going to exit banking for HF/PE.

Just wanted to remind you guys that you have to bust your a.. for at least a year before any of those opportunities exists and even then, they're few and far between until you finish your 2 years.

Huron Consulting

Any thoughts on Huron Consulting?

BB to MBB jump

How hard would it be to jump from a 2 year stint at a BB to a top consulting firm. And assuming one completes both entry programs, would you be a near lock for a top notch business school?

Equity Research Salaries

I'm looking for any insight on equity research analyst salaries (right out of school). Bonus information and whether you are talking abuot BBs, research boutiques, or mid-market IBs would be helpful.

Thanks.

JP Morgan... Whats the deal?

Where do they stand with exit options, compensation, culture? Ive heard great things, but also some people dont even consider them a BB.

BB Cultures

How do the BBs vary in culture? How would you describe the culture, or perceived culture at GS,Citi,MS,LEH,JPM,ect.?
